BIOGRAPHY

Sophie Elizabeth Hall, born in 1998, is a contemporary artist recognized for her vibrant and mid-scale abstract paintings. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours from Loughborough University and currently operates from her London studio. Sophie's creative approach is marked by a distinctive methodology that enables her to be expressive in her art.

 

Nature's simple forms serve as Sophie's primary source of inspiration. Her technique involves projecting visual shapes and structures, which she then employs as a guide for free painting. With a keen focus on the quality of lines, silhouettes, and shadows, she applies a range of gestural brushstrokes and dynamic details using various mediums and unconventional tools.

 

Sophie's works are informed by her personal experiences and memories, invoking sentiments of elation, intensity, spirituality and strife, ultimately lending resolution to her canvas. Her colour palette is a blend of both saturated and subdued hues, at times even unsettling, as she enhances her conceptual art through the interplay of positive and negative shapes in space, along with the dynamism of textures. Sophie's art incorporates modern technology, imbuing her digitised mixed media outcomes with a contemporary feel, giving it a tailored appearance.

 

Her objective is to heighten awareness of our limited human capacity to perceive God's vast creation, as our eyes can only perceive a mere fraction of 0.0035%. Her artistic mission entails capturing and showcasing the exquisite beauty and refinement of nature through her creations. Sophie’s artistic process involves fragmented layering and utilising a filtered approach as she delves into dialogues pertinent to the Gen Z generation. She believes that the Gen Z era is characterized by a filter-centric worldview, with the objective of enhancing what is already present. Her artistic endeavour is to reveal further magnificence in God's natural creativity through the medium of art.
