2. Mindful Living, 2020

The global pandemic Covid-19 encouraged me to become more sustainable through my own textile practices. Sourcing plant-based materials such as Hemp, Organic Cotton, Linen, Peace Silk & the use of deadstock fabrics.

This Women's Ready-To-Wear, Spring/Summer Collection, encapsulates nature-inspired designs through a sustainable approach. One that is contemporary and effortless with a bit of heritage and a touch of femininity. Designed for longevity, my collection does not follow any recent trends meaning the timeless easy-to-wear pieces that can be worn again and again!

The muse is an ageless, sophisticated earth-loving goddess who is conscious about their surroundings and caring for the environment. Sophie's colour palette explores earthy muted tones giving off a natural and organic feel to the collection whilst representing the fragile relationship humans have with nature.

I admired fruit in its rawest form and wanted to portray the importance & beauty of nature being all around us. I drew inspiration from wild berries, exploring this through colour, form, design and composition. I believe that this modern mindset should be about reconnecting to nature whilst making a positive contribution to society.

Throughout my collection, I use sustainable practices to dye the fabrics, extracting pigment from wild berries. These natural & traditional techniques focus on my belief that the modern person is required to be more environmentally aware of their behaviours that are collectively affecting our planet in the ways in which we choose to live. This came from learning more about the scale of the environmental damage created by the textile industry.
